Perfectionism is something that impacts many high level people. Many of us who are doing big things in life and have big goals we’re achieving struggle with being a perfectionist.
Here is the definition of perfectionism:
1a: the doctrine that the perfection of moral character constitutes a person’s highest good
1b: the theological doctrine that a state of freedom from sin is attainable on earth
2: a disposition to regard anything short of perfection as unacceptable
Why does it matter to you?
Because perfectionism is the enemy of progress.
Perfectionism often leads to procrastination.
In more severe cases it’s terrible for your mental health and can lead to depression or anxiety.
For high achieving people who have perfectionist tendencies it can lead to a complete lack of enjoyment or happiness in life.
Not only is it an obstacle to your happiness in life but it’s also an obstacle to you achieving your goals.
We often believe it helps us achieve our goals but years of research has shown that perfectionism is a big OBSTACLE to doing great things.
When you learn how to go after what you want without the need to be perfect, you will be able to achieve your goals quicker, easier and with much more enjoyment.
